Title starts with what it is
8 ptsEtsy counts words at the start of a title more. The checker looks for one of your tags at the very start.
Tags are phrases
8 ptsTwo or three word tags, like "dog mom mug", match what buyers type. One word alone matches too many listings.
No repeated tags
7 ptsA tag with the same words in a different order, or just a plural, takes a slot without adding a new search.
14 words or less
6 ptsEtsy's own tip in the listing editor: "Consider using 14 words or less".
No keyword stuffing
4 ptsThe same word more than 2 times reads as stuffing to buyers.
No all caps or symbols

How many tags can an Etsy listing have?
Up to 13 tags, each up to 20 characters, spaces included.
How long can an Etsy title be?
Etsy allows 140 characters, and its listing editor suggests 14 words or less.
What characters can I use in Etsy tags?
Letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and the ™ © ® symbols. Etsy turns away a tag with anything else, such as ! & or #.
Does the checker show search volume?
No. Etsy doesn't share search data with apps. If you have an Etsy shop, each tag links to Etsy's Marketplace Insights in your Shop Manager, where Etsy shows how that search performs. It needs you signed in to Etsy as a seller.
Is it free? Do you keep what I paste?
