Every fee Etsy charges on a sale

On a $25.00 item with $5.00 shipping, Etsy takes $3.30 in fees, 11% of the sale, before Offsite Ads.

Listing fee

$0.20

Per listing, every four months or when it sells. Each extra unit sold from the same listing pays it again.

Transaction fee

6.5%

On the item price after any shop coupon, the shipping you charge and any gift wrap.

Payment processing

3% + $0.25 in the US

On the order total, including sales tax. The rate depends on the country your shop is in (4% + £0.20 in the UK, for example).

Offsite Ads

15% or 12%

Only when a sale comes from an ad Etsy runs on other sites. 15% if you sell under $10,000 a year (you can opt out), 12% above that. Never more than $100 per order.

Questions sellers ask about Etsy fees

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing both apply to the shipping you charge, not only the item price.

Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?

Payment processing is charged on the whole order total, sales tax included. The transaction fee is not charged on tax.

How does a shop coupon change the fees?

Etsy charges the transaction fee on the price after the coupon. A $50.00 item with 10% off sells for $45.00, and the transaction fee is $2.93 instead of $3.25.

When does Etsy charge the listing fee again?

$0.20 every four months when a listing renews, and again each time it sells. Selling three from one listing pays it three times.

What are Offsite Ads, and can I opt out?

Etsy advertises your listings on other sites and charges a fee only when a sale comes from one of those ads: 15% if your shop sells under $10,000 a year, where you can opt out, and 12% once you pass it, where you cannot. It is never more than $100 per order.

What if my listings are in a different currency from my bank?

Etsy converts the money and charges 2.5% for it. Payment processing also depends on the country your shop is in.
